Alabare Torridge and North Devon Homelessness Prevention

Alabare provides two houses in Bideford for homeless people.
The aim is to support them move on to permanent accommodation with the skills to live independently.

We also provide support to people in the surrounding area who are threatened with homelessness, to help them keep their accommodation and maintain independence.

We do this by addressing the causes of why they became homeless or are threatened with homelessness. This could be because they find it difficult to understand benefits and manage money, can't get a job or need training.

We agree outcomes with them and a support plan to help them meet those outcomes, involving other agencies as necessary.

People can apply for our service directly, through Torridge or North Devon Council's Housing Options team, Devon Adult Social Care, Dorset, Devon and Cornwall Rehabilitation Company, Devon NHS Partnership Trust, voluntary agencies such as CAB.
