Families in Grief (FiG)

FiG was set up in 2006 by a group of bereaved parents and adults experienced in working with children.

Our aim is to support children, young people and their families living in North Devon and Torridge who are coming to terms with the death of someone close to them.

Support is provided by running a series of groups throughout the year which bring a number of bereaved families together to help them with their grief. We feel that meeting together in this way will open up communication within the family, reduce their sense of isolation and help to understand and normalize their feelings by meeting others who are experiencing similar situations.

We also run groups for bereaved teenagers which introduces them to other young people who are facing similar challenges. The sessions involve physical activities such as the climbing wall and numerous craft activities.

Devon County Council uses an SEND flag to list services which define themselves as suitable for children and young people with SEND. These are part of Devon's SEND Local Offer. We recommend that you contact the service provider to make sure the service is suitable for your child or young person.
