South Molton Centre - Northern Devon Foodbank

Restoring Dignity - Reviving Hope

The foodbank supplies food to anyone in need. As part of Northern Devon Foodbank, local people have access to over 200 frontline referral agencies who can issue vouchers for their clients.

Because we want to see clients' crisis and their consequent need for our service resolved we encourage clients to seek professional advice. Whilst they are following that advice we will supply as much food as is necessary for as long as is necessary.

In light of that, we do not normally service "walk-in" clients on more than one occasion. It is well proven that walk-in services tend to prolong the underlying need. The voucher referral system results in a very high rate of crisis solution. Clients in possession of a voucher are proven to be trying to stand on their own feet.

Most of our food is donated by local shoppers and organisations and distributed directly from the Centre that receives it. We make up nutritionally balanced parcels drawing upon our local supplies and any we additional food we need from our central warehouse.
