Estuary League of Friends

We provide tailored services and host social activities for people of all ages who require our help and assistance to live as independently as possible in their own homes.

Our community hub Nancy Potter House opened in July 2018 and offers a range of activities for the whole community. 

Services are available to people living in and around Topsham, Countess Wear, Ebford, Exton, Digby, Wonford, The Rydons, Clyst St George, Cat & Fiddle and Clyst St Mary.  Irrespective of where they are registered for GP services.

Home Help services

  • Home visits

Apart from the dog walking which is undertaken by Exeter University students, the home help services are chargeable. 

Independent living services

  • Transport to medical or other appointments (wheelchair transport if required)
  • Transport/Hire of Minibus or Wheelchair Vehicle
  • Hire of Wheelchair and other similar equipment
  • Shopping - one to one and fortnightly trips
  • Nail cutting service
  • Telephone contact, befriending, emotional support & pastoral care
  • Information on entitlement for government allowances and help completing forms

Activities for children

  • East Devon Sign and Sign for parents and babies
  • Code Club for children 9 - 13 years

Other services

  • Charity shops in Fore Street Topsham
  • Key safe fitting

We have volunteering opportunities and offer full training, refund travel expenses, and a warm, friendly team atmosphere with people working alongside you. Volunteers are very important in enabling us to carry out our work with the community.

Community Transport entries with the “DCC mark”:

All Voluntary Car Schemes with the DCC mark operate with drivers who are DBS checked at the enhanced level.

Community Transport Groups and Associations which operate a Ring & Ride scheme with the DCC mark, meet DCC standard terms and conditions.
