Park Life Heavitree
Park Life Heavitree is a registered charity that aims to bring together people in and around Heavitree Pleasure Ground in Exeter. For several years we have organised and run monthly events in the pleasure ground. These would normally have a theme and always involve quality hot drinks and cake! We also support the community by offering direct support to people at a time of need i.e. making meals during times of stress like moving house or having a baby. We receive funding through Sport England which supports many sporting activities within the pleasure ground like the couch to 5K running clubs, Park Yoga and summer volleyball sessions. We have previously provided free cooking lessons to our local schools and elderly and are linked with several other projects like Junior Parkrun and Tennis for Free.
One of our main aims is to build and run a community hub and cafe. We have a fund-raising team who are hard at work raising money to build the facility. Our building team is made up of local volunteers who have the skills and experience needed to deliver the project. The facility will provide a hirable space and will act as a community hub - allowing Park Life to better deliver its aims. The community cafe will provide a safe and warm space as well as quality food and drink. Any income generated will go back into Park Life activities and the park itself. We have the full support of Exeter City Council who are the land owner. We are planning to start the build project in early 2021.
