Devon Access Wallet Scheme

The Devon Access Wallet scheme, initiated by Devon County Council, is designed to help make journeys by bus or train in Devon easier and give people the support and confidence to travel independently.

The scheme is primarily for people with communication or learning difficulties, deaf people and those whose first language is not English. The wallet is carefully designed with a fluorescent orange cover, to create an immediate visual impact and alert staff that they need to give extra care and attention to the passenger.

Inside the wallet are plastic inserts which can contain information in a written or pictorial format in order to help the passenger communicate with staff – there can be several different locations such as the hospital, town centre and also instructions to the driver.

Devon County Council uses an SEND flag to list services which define themselves as suitable for children and young people with SEND. These are part of Devon's SEND Local Offer. We recommend that you contact the service provider to make sure the service is suitable for your child or young person.
