My story is about how our family left a life of rigid restriction over twenty years ago, and the agonising metamorphosis we all experienced during our adjustment to the real world.
When our lives suddenly changed we were launched onto a roller-coaster of experiences, tragic, humorous and at times nightmarishly terrifying, that was to reform and rebuild us into the confident, forward looking people we are today.
Having survived the trauma of drug abuse, poverty, rejection and terrible sorrow at the fragmentation of our family, I have emerged in my seventies a stronger and wiser person, a champion of enterprising women and a business woman in my own right.
I started speaking to small groups fourteen years ago in 2002, being invited as keynote speaker to business conferences and public meetings, functions and luncheon clubs. I also speak to many smaller groups, Womens’ Institutes, U3A, Soroptimists, Probus, to name a few.
My objective in telling the story of how I gained my freedom, how my life has been turned upside down and inside out, how I have changed from an automaton with a future that was decided for me is to inspire others. As a woman with my own dreams and aspirations, I want to urge all who listen to me to assess their own lives and achieve their dreams, never to accept limitation, but to become confident, satisfied and optimistic.
I am also committed to helping with fundraising for charities and good causes and will negotiate a contribution at this type of event.
I am a professional member of the Profession Speaking Association, and an Advanced Toastmaster.
