Our aims are to foster interest in family history and to help members and beginners extend their family tree/History. Members also have access to the Club library.
The Exmouth Family History club was formed in 1984 following a Family History course held at the Sailors Rest in St Andrews Road Exmouth, and the club is pleased that a number of its original members are still with the club today.
The club has enjoyed a number of venues over the years from the Sailors Rest to the Exmouth Hospital, Withycombe Methodist Church Hall and to our present venue Littlemead Methodist Church Hall.
Over the years our committees have provided us with some excellent speakers, very informative hands-on workshops and interesting trips to all sorts of places; we have been entertained and informed by quizzes and enjoyed picnics, Safari lunches and Festive dinners.
Club members have also manned many stalls and displays around Exmouth and the surrounding area, and discussed family history with a wide variety of people of all ages;
If you would like us to set up a stall at an event please let us know and we will see what we can do!
Our Club wishes to encourage and promote young people's interest in Family History and offer Free Membership/entry to all the younger members of our community up to 16 years of age, as long as they are accompanied by a responsible Adult.
The Club meetings are held the 4th Thursday of the month, with the exception of August and December and in June we replace our meeting with a visit to a place of interest.
Meetings start at 7:30pm and are held at the Littlemead Methodist Church Hall, Roundhouse Lane, Exmouth EX8 3BU
Visitors are always welcome.
