The Beehive (Honiton Community Complex)

We confirm we have complied with the government’s guidance on managing the risk of COVID-19.

The Beehive is a smart, modern community venue located in the heart of the traditional market town of Honiton – with easy access by car, rail or air. It opened in April 2014 and was awarded Community Centre of the Year in 2017.

Whether you’re looking for a venue to hold a conference, exhibition or wedding reception, a room for community activities, seminars, training course, workshop or meeting, or wish to stage a live event, we have space for you. With our 300 seat Auditorium, Function room, Café room and small rooms to choose from, we can provide a suitable space and event support whatever your event.

The Beehive has high-speed internet and free wifi, Video projection/conferencing, large screen auditorium with cinematic projection and surround sound and professional technical staff. The Beehive Café Bar can seat 40. It has free wifi and can provide teas, coffees, soft drinks, snacks, pre-arranged lunches and buffets at competitive rates.

If you are interested in booking space on a regular basis throughout the year we offer discounted rates and free inclusion on our website. Our prices are competitive with discounts available for community groups and registered charities. All room hire is vat exempt.

Auditorium (260m2)

The auditorium on the ground floor is an incredibly flexible room with retractable raked seating, an integrated audio system and stage lighting. A large cinema screen is also available with a high-quality overhead projector. The room will accommodate 300 theatre style (200 on raked seating), 400 standing, or 125 catered and has an optional stage available if required. The space can be hired for live events, community activities, dinner dances, wedding receptions, training seminars and conferences.  This space is also suitable for trade shows, exhibitions and craft fairs.

Apart from the hall, there are changing rooms, showers and toilets for performers. There is also a cafe/bar.

The Tirard Function Room (60m2)

The Tirard room is on the first floor, accessible by stairs or lift, and is very light and airy with proportions that make it ideal for a number of set up styles, with a maximum capacity of 40. It has wood laminate flooring and air conditioning. It is ideal for seminars, meetings, training, functions, dance classes, rehearsals, and small live events. There is a variety of equipment from flipcharts to projectors available for hire.

Hayward Room (38m2)

The ground floor Hayward Room sits adjacent to The Beehive’s café area. It has wood laminate flooring and is ideal for a training room, a break out room or as a meeting room. A very flexible room with a maximum capacity of 25. There is a variety of equipment from flipcharts to projectors available for hire.

Meeting Room (16m2)

The meeting room on the first floor is accessible by stairs or lift, and is a multi-purpose room ideal for smaller meetings, a training room or a break out room. A very affordable option for a maximum of 12 people.

The Beehive is managed by Honiton Community Complex (Charity no. 1162412 Company no. 08409289) and is also the home of Honiton Town Council.
