We provide information and advice for council/housing association tenants, private tenants and homeowners. We can give advice about landlord or tenant problems, harassment and illegal evictions, rough sleepers and homelessness. You can also find out what to do if you are at risk of becoming homeless and details on how to apply for social housing.
The Council has a key role in working with partners and customers to meet the housing needs of the City. Specifically, we are responsible for the development of new affordable housing, the prevention of homelessness, maintaining housing standards and supporting people to maintain independence in their own homes. We can offer support with adapting and maintaining your home if you are eligible.
We offer Housing Benefit Support and Advice.
The housing advice service can be accessed in the following ways –
By email, via the Exeter City website, by telephone or by visiting the Civic Centre and requesting to see a housing advice officer.
If you've been made homeless outside of our normal working hours, we operate an emergency out-of-hours service.
However, be aware that if you are not eligible for emergency accommodation we won't be able to help you out of hours.
You can contact our emergency out of hours service on 01392 265147.
You can obtain advice and assistance about adapting your home and housing benefit support and advice by visiting the Civic Centre or by telephone and speaking to a Customer Service Officer.
