Abbeyfield - Cotmaton House
Supported housing offers affordable, high quality living for people who want to be as independent and self-reliant as possible without the worry of maintaining their own home. We personalise our services to meet your needs so that you can enjoy freedom, security and peace of mind.
Situated just a 15-minute walk away from the beautiful Sidmouth seafront, Cotmaton House used to be a hotel before being bought by the Abbeyfield Sidmouth Society in 1977. Since then, it has provided supported housing accommodation for older people who wish to remain independent and part of an active, sociable community.
Set within beautiful grounds, we have 6 en-suite rooms and 4 flats within the main house, as well as 5 apartments, a 2 bed bungalow and 1 courtyard apartment. Residents benefit from a large communal lounge, a relaxing summer house and a beautifully well-maintained garden where you can enjoy the fresh sea air while admiring the fantastic wildlife that often come to pay us a visit such as foxes, squirrels and birds.
We love going on trips out together, whether to garden centres, local attractions such as Exeter Cathedral or National Trust locations. Within the house, we also have plenty of fun activities for you to join in with if you wish such as live music and performances from the local school children.
