Bideford College Hearing Support Centre

Bideford College has a Hearing Support Centre (HSC), specifically designed to support the needs of Deaf and Hearing Impaired students. British Sign Language is supported (and offered), as is Cued Speech. The HSC is funded by Devon County Council and students who are also suffering with ongoing Conductive Loss can be supported. Students are supported from Year 7 through to Year 13 and beyond where applicable. Deaf students entitled to exam concessions sit their exams in the HSC which is acoustically treated to recommendations by the NDCS (National Deaf Children’s Society).

For further details or an opportunity to discuss your child's needs, please ring the school office.

Devon County Council uses an SEND flag to list services which define themselves as suitable for children and young people with SEND. These are part of Devon's SEND Local Offer. We recommend that you contact the service provider to make sure the service is suitable for your child or young person.
