The Ness Centre - Dementia Hub

We are a dementia specialist hub that offers outstanding daycare, courses, home enabling and support for families and individuals with dementia and respite for their carers. At our Well 'Ness' centre in Teignmouth we offer CST courses, therapies and activities from music, to gardening, to reminiscence therapy for individuals with dementia. We run courses for informal carers and professionals that explore dementia and offer practical tips on coping. Finally if the individual living with dementia prefers 1:1 home enabling we can come to your home and offer engaging company giving family time out.

The centre can offer half day activities that people can come for a home cooked lunch and then engage in therapies (like Tai-chi, arts and crafts or music therapy), allowing a family or carer to utilize the local town. Alternatively you can come for the day or and  be supported by specialist staff, take part in various activities/day trips and enjoy a home cooked meal. Our centre is a specialist environment designed by architects to enable independence and social integration and all our activities are designed to maintain indpendence and the feel good factor. We welcome people from across South Devon and offer a pick up and drop off service for those spending the day with us that have no transport.

We have a information seminar room that runs courses throughout the year, these include Cognitive Stimulation Therapy course for those newly diagnosed who want to maintain their mental agility and build support, a free five week resilience course for informal carers offering practical tips and peer support, and finally this year we will be offering a more theoretical course for professionals who care for individuals living with dementia.
