Exeter has hundreds of hectares of attractive countryside within its boundary.
Much of this is accessible for the public to walk in. The main areas of public access are designated as valley parks.
Exeter's valley parks are there for all to enjoy. Close to people's homes, they offer a wide choice of leisurely walks, places to relax, fine views and plenty of wildlife. The parks are often close to schools and are a valuable resource for environmental education.
The valley parks are cared for by the City Council and offer ample opportunities to experience wildlife and natural open spaces. The countryside is a place where many people make their living so please respect the rights of landowners. Keep to footpaths or bridleways and only enter fields where stiles or kissing gates are provided.
