Registered Childcare - Pre-schools
Here you will find details of Pre-schools. Some are exempt from registration with Ofsted.
Ofsted registration
Childcare providers need to be registered with Ofsted (unless exempt) and hold valid insurance if they offer to look after children under eight for more than two hours a day, without the parents being present. Ask to see their Ofsted registration and insurance certificates before making any arrangements. There is a link to their Ofsted inspection report at the bottom of each record (this will be the inspection report for their school if exempt).
Parents who have a serious concern about a childcare service or activity and are unable to resolve it directly with the provider should contact Ofsted on 0300 123 1231.
Choosing childcare
Guidance on choosing and paying for childcare is available from Devon’s Family Information Service.
Starting school
A place in a school nursery does not guarantee admission to the school and parents must apply for a place at the school if they want their child to transfer to the reception class.
Parents/Carers can choose to continue to take up their child's funded place at a private, voluntary or independent childcare provider until their child reaches compulsory school age, if they choose not to take up their child's right to a place in a state funded school reception class in the September following their child's fourth birthday.
Can't find the childcare you need?
We have a duty to ensure there is enough childcare to meet parent’s needs. Use our online form to tell us if you haven’t been able to find the childcare you need.
During the Coronavirus (Covid-19) Outbreak, childcare providers are able to open for all children. For more information on what extra steps are being taken by childcare providers on Childcare Choices Coronavirus page
Refine your search by using the filter Coronavirus Status to find childcarers who are open during this time. Pinpoint is working with the childcarers to keep these details up to date.
